Psychologist
Duties
include but are not limited to consultation of, behavioral
assessment/intervention, psychological evaluation with differential
diagnosis, developmental evaluations, psycho-educational evaluation,
counseling, family therapy, individual or group therapy, workshops in
self-understanding, human relations, communication, tutorial programs,
organizational development, parent counseling, vocational development, parent
education programs, program planning and evaluation, crisis intervention,
specific behavior management, skill training, and transition planning and
evaluation within a school-related setting. Clinical background
preferred. Doctorate degree in
Psychology is preferred. Background/experience in working with students with
visual impairments which may include multiple impairments is preferred. The position is a 9‑month contract

Occupational Therapist
The New
Mexico School
for the Blind and Visually Impaired is currently recruiting for an
Occupational Therapist. The
Occupational Therapist will provide occupational therapy services in a school
setting to facilitate development and rehabilitation in conjunction with the
NMSBVI educational team and other members of the rehabilitation team to
visually and/or multiply impaired students.
A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Occupational Therapy, current license
from the NM Board of Occupational Therapy Practice and licensure through the
NM Public Education Department are required.
This is a part-time, 9-month contract position. Open until filled.

Education
Assistants Substitutes assist with instructional tasks in classroom. Substitutes are on an “as-needed” and

Early Childhood Classroom Teacher
The successful candidate can

within our early childhood program. Required:

position will provide health care services to visually and/or multiply
impaired students in an educational pre-school setting. New Mexico Board of Nursing Licensure is

Early Childhood Classroom Teacher
The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually
Impaired Early Childhood Program is seeking two (2) experienced and qualified
teachers of the visually impaired (or in the process of training for the VI
qualification) for our site-based preschool and kindergarten program. Experience working with students with VI
and multiple disabilities is preferred.
Teacher would be responsible for teaching, assessing and monitoring a
classroom of VI students. Will be
required to become Braille proficient.
Full‑time, 9-month contract.

OUTREACH SERVICES
Outreach Itinerant Teacher
New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually
Impaired, Outreach Services Division, is currently recruiting for an Outreach
Itinerant Teacher. This is a 183 day
contract and covers the full school year. This position is a dual
certification, O&M/TVI position. Must be eligible for certification in New Mexico and must
meet NMSBVI’s Braille proficiency requirement.
Duties
include travel and direct service to students around the state of New Mexico who are
being served in their home school. The
Itinerant Teacher will provide assessment, instruction, and consultation to
students age 3-21. Prior experience
preferred. A home office will be set
up for the Itinerant Teacher and a car will be provided. Benefits are available and the salary is

FAMILY, INFANT TODDLER PROGRAM
Developmental
Vision Specialist – Infant Toddler
The
New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Infant Toddler Program
is seeking two (2) Developmental Vision Specialists. These individuals will provide family/home
intervention services that support young children 0-3 years old with visual
impairments/developmental delays. Also will collaborate with child’s family
and therapy team and support caregivers as advocates for their child.
One
position will serve the Albuquerque area and a portion of the northern part
of the state to be determined. The
second position will serve the southwestern portion of New Mexico. Must be eligible for a Developmental
Specialist II or III license with the New Mexico FIT Program, must have obtained
a BA or higher in Early Childhood, Special Education, Child Development, or
Occupational Therapy, and have experience with young children who are blind
or have visual impairments. Prefer MA level, bi‑lingual
(English/Spanish); experience in home-based settings and studies in Visual
Impairment or be willing to acquire. Will be required to become Braille
proficient. Eleven-month
contract. Position starts July 2010. A valid driving license is required and
extensive driving is a job requirement.
