Education Assistant Substitutes

Accounting Specialist

The New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired is recruiting for an Accounting Specialist.  Duties of this position include but are not limited to: creating invoices, maintaining files and processing monthly statements, reconciling daily cash receipts and preparing bank deposits, preparing monthly financial statements, preparing monthly investment report, preparing monthly reports to reconcile accounts receivable balance with general ledger and preparing and filing monthly gross receipts tax reports.  Medicaid billing experience preferred.  Associate’s degree or higher, with one or two years related experience is required.  Position open until filled.

OUTREACH SERVICES:

 

Mentorship Support Services Facilitator

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired Outreach Services Division is currently recruiting for an experienced dually certified (O&M and TVI) individual who can develop an effective mentorship program for the state of New Mexico. This creative, independent individual provides mentoring opportunities to graduates from the personnel preparation program as well as teachers newly hired to the state. This individual also acts as a liaison between NMSBVI and school districts and as a resource to school districts that are establishing vision departments.  Mentorship Support Services also provides training, resources, consultation and support to TVIs and O&Ms in school districts throughout the state of New Mexico. 

This is a 183 day contract and covers the full school year. Must be eligible for certification in New Mexico and must meet NMSBVI’s Braille proficiency requirement. Travel is required. A home office will be set up and a car will be provided. Position available for the 2013-2014 school year.  Applications accepted until filled. 

 

Low Vision Services Consultant/Teacher of the Visually Impaired

New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Outreach Services Department, is currently recruiting for the position of Low Vision Services Consultant and Teacher of the Visually Impaired. The Low Vision Services Consultant will be responsible for organizing and managing the NMSBVI-Access to Learning Low Vision Clinics throughout the state of New Mexico. In addition, the Low Vision Services Consultant will be responsible for grant writing to support the clinic. As a provider of low vision services this position requires the individual to make decisions regarding education programming for children with visual impairments. Therefore it is necessary to have experience as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments. This position requires travel, assessment, consultation services, and some direct service to students with visual impairments in their community and home schools. This is a 183 day contract and covers the full school year.  Position available for the 2013-2014 school year.  Applications accepted until filled.
